National programs combined with local efforts are vital to changing attitudes, educating individuals and effectively changing behavior around substance use disorder. Becoming a member of the Council will enable your agency to participate in life changing evidence-based programs and strategies that align with the Comprehensive Community Plan for Porter County.
Members are also able to access annual community funds that assist with addressing underage drinking; marijuana use; and opioid/heroin prevention, treatment and recovery best practices. In 2017, we were able to disburse $164,000.00 to agencies providing evidence-based initiatives to member agencies.
There is no cost for individual or organizational memberships, just a willingness to participate in strategies to reduce substance use disorder in our community and network with others that have the same goals. Coalition meetings in 2019 will be held at the Community Foundation, 1401 Calumet Avenue, Valparaiso, Indiana from 7:30 am – 8:30 am. A continental breakfast will be available to start your day!
