The Porter County Substance Abuse Council, in coordination with the Indiana Professional Licensing Board offers INSPECT training for police officers, veterinarians, podiatrists, dentists and healthcare prescribers throughout the year.

Problematic prescribing practices are a leading contributor to the epidemic. INSPECT is designed to assist prescribers, dispensers, and law enforcement in combatting controlled substance prescribing practices contributing to the widespread abuse and misuse of prescription drugs.

The INSPECT database collects and stores:

 • list of controlled substances prescribed to patients

• the practitioner who prescribed them

• the dispensing pharmacy where prescriptions are obtained

By compiling controlled substance information into an online database, INSPECT is able to maintain a clearinghouse of patient information for health care professionals and provide an important investigative tool for law enforcement.
