Matters of Substance

Matters of Substance is a WVLP Valpo Community Radio show hosted by Dawn Pelc, Executive Director of the Porter County Substance Abuse Council (PCSAC.) The show provides an informative look at how addiction of all types plays an ever increasing role in our community. A wide variety of topics are discussed including the opioid epidemic and other issues including but not limited to addiction and substance use and abuse of all kinds.

The Opioid Epidemic

The misuse of and addiction to opioids—including prescription pain relievers, heroin and synthetic opioids such as fentanyl is a serious crisis that affects public health as well as social and economic welfare. Watch this video to learn some staggering facts about this epidemic that is deeply affecting our community.
